Thank you!

It is with a lot of thought and consideration I have decided to take a step back from Running With Purpose and postpone our run/walks until further notice. I am unsure of what the future holds for us at this time. With some recent life changes and a new business endeavor I am unable to commit 100% to our group and give it the effort/time it deserves.

I can not say THANK YOU enough for the support and passion you have all brought to this group. Each and every week showing up with a smile on your face no matter if there was rain, snow, wind or sunshine (which was rare)! Your continued participation and commitment to a purpose has far exceeded my expectations when I started the group last November. You have all inspired me and I am forever grateful for that.

This group has brought together people from all walks of life and formed a bond that only crazy people who get up at 6:30 on a Saturday morning to run/walk can have. Most of us started out as strangers and I am happy to say you are all now my friends. This is more than I could have ever imagined Running With a Purpose would bring.

Lastly, please don’t stop running or walking with a purpose! Just because we won’t be meeting each week with a combined purpose, does NOT mean you can’t have a purpose of your own! Run for those who cant and be grateful for the gift of walking and running that some people were not given. Don’t take life for granted as we are not promised tomorrow. Please keep living out Running With a Purpose in your every day life.

Thank you again for all you have done over the last 8 months and I hope we can all run/walk together soon.

Good Luck Dam to Dam Runners!

Just a reminder – we don’t have our run/walk this weekend as the majority of our pack is running the Des Moines Dam to Dam Half Marathon! (Aly, Chad, Randy, Shana, Tom and Katie)

Good luck to our runners as they conquer 13.1 miles! We look forward to hearing all about it.

Upcoming weeks

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Thank you to those of you who joined us this past Saturday for another Run With Purpose!

The next two weeks we will not have our run/walk. This weekend is Memorial Day weekend and the following weekend (5-30-15) the majority of our group is participating in the Des Moines Dam to Dam Half Marathon – Chad D, Katie B, Aly T, Shana H, and Randy B (I think I named them all).

Good luck to our Runners as they conquer 13.1 miles! We will all be cheering for you!!!

See you the first Saturday in June – 6/6/15 at 7:00 am. 🙂

Light It Up Blue – Autism Awareness Campaign Reflection

Thank you Running With Purpose for being a part of Autism Awareness Light It Up Blue!!! Here is a recap of how great this day was all around the world!!

Email from Light It Up Blue Awareness Campaign…

I’ve been counting all the participants and going through all the stories from World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, and I’m blown away by how many people like you participated in this year’s Light It Up Blue awareness campaign.

Thanks so much for being part of it. You were in good company — check this out:50,431 people from 142 countries and territories participated

  • 18,424 buildings were lit up blue on April 2nd
  • #LIUB was tweeted 43,000 times — and it trended worldwide on Facebook and Twitter

And here are a few of my favorite pictures from the big day:

NYC Skyline image La Basilica de la Sagrada Familia Spain image
The Great Pyramids and the Sphinx of Egypt image

Last Thursday wasn’t just about tall buildings turning blue. It showed just how many people around the world — from big cities to small villages — care about making life better for every single person touched by autism.

That’s why all of us at Autism Speaks come to work every day, but we need resources to make it a reality.

Help keep up the momentum all month long — support our work to educate, advocate, and fund autism research with a tax-deductible donation of $10 or more today.

Thanks again for joining us this year. Just 359 days to go until Light It Up Blue 2016!
